OUR BIRTH, PHILOSOPHY AND DIRECTION:
Norman-Robert Communications, (NRC), our d.b.a. name, was founded as Norman-Robert Associates, Inc., in June 1987. We began by calling ourselves an “advertising, public relations and communications” firm. We still are, but we’ve evolved.
Unlike standard firms of our type, our proposals, written and verbal communications and invoices we submit are clear, concise and detailed, with no surprises. We do not mark up third-party work or charge commissions for media placement. We bill for our time, which is estimated for the client in advance. If the scope of work does not change appreciably, once a contract is signed and underway, costs remain as presented.
We’ve always been capable, but until technology caught up with us, our work remained regional. Since 1994, when we began attracting national clients, our accomplishments on behalf of others have expanded to encompass the nation.
NRC has always been attracted to niche markets; small but creative, professionally aggressive but sensible, we gravitate to modest projects that have growth potential. The opportunity to take a promising but compartmented product or service and help see it prosper is the type of work we prefer. Over the years, these have included emerging markets in the fields of healthcare, fashion eyewear, travel destinations, wireless communications, and edible soy protein.
We’ve won national awards with our creativity, and while we’re proud of the recognition, realize that accolades alone don’t sell our client’s products or services. Our strength lies in timeliness and organization. We’ve never missed a deadline and we realize the power of organizational skills. Most importantly, when you hire us, you get us; we do not outsource our work or hand over your project to colleagues less experienced. Here is a list of our capabilities:
a) Film, video, DVD and CD production. We hire the digital shooters, but we are the producers, writers, directors and editors.
b) Event planning. We plan and execute your event, including site and menu selection, travel, lodging, design, print, and multimedia, public relations and general coordination.
c) Public & media relations. We excel at building communication bridges. We write, in a provocative manner if appropriate, releases, alerts and pitch letters, which we send to a bona fide, non-spam list regionally or nationally. In 2-3 business days we receive an accurate read-out of who and how many journalists, writers and editors looked at our work. Then we follow up on each, creating relationships, and striving for coverage for our client. As professionals, we create positives, and help our client prepare in advance for any negatives, should they arise, including how to address the media, if called upon to do so.
e) Creative services. From print, broadcast and online advertising, corporate identification and marks, we can create it. Where possible, we take calculated risks, based on the tools we have working for us; it not only sets our client apart from the competition, it works.
f) Online services. A still growing medium, we have the ability to creatively harness what Internet marketing can realistically do for you today, as we help you plan for its inclusion in tomorrow’s plans.
Most of us arrived at where we are not just because we have the talent, but because we are listeners who enjoy interacting with others as committed to excellence as we are—and because we make it a habit to know our markets. We do not shy from the work it takes to make things happen the way our clients want them to happen.
