According to Lyle Roberts, ISA's Chief Executive Officer, the World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH) has worked in Africa for almost a decade, helping to spearhead many projects to create a sustainable nutrition solution for school lunch programs and at-risk populations (those suffering from HIV/AIDS and other devastating diseases). WISHH, a program of the American Soybean Association, brings the benefits of U.S. soy protein to developing countries to improve overall nutrition. The ISA was a major player in the creation of WISHH. Roberts himself had a key role in its formation and is currently an ex-officio member of the WISHH Committee, while Pat Dumoulin serves as treasurer. In addition to ISA, other organizations represented at the conference were: Global Child Nutrition Foundation, Joint Aid Management, WISHH, Akshaya Patra Foundation in India, National Soybean Research Laboratory, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, UN World Food Programme, Human Sciences Research Council, National Fund for Education Development and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. Invitees include 30 delegates from African, Latin American and South Asian Countries. SOURCE: Illinois Soybean Association
