Houston, Texas, May 2010 — TTI Exploration, a privately held geosciences technology company based in Houston, has announced that the Company has acquired more than 5,000 square kilometers of ultra high-resolution imaging data over marsh and other environmentally sensitive areas along the Gulf of Mexico coastline.

The imaging data was acquired as part of Operation GulfSCAN, an initiative launched by TTI Exploration to capture and monitor the health of the Gulf coastal ecosystem.

TTI Exploration deployed its proprietary Natural Resource MappingTM (NRM) system on May 3rd to support environmental surveillance efforts in response to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Included among NRM’s technologies is the industry’s most advanced hyperspectral system which is precisely measuring conditions before, during and after the impacts of the spill. Missions to date have captured pre-spill environmental baseline images and oil spill impact images. TTI Exploration’s unique technology is critical in detecting not only the presence, extent and concentration of oil, but also the degree of impact on plants, animals and fragile ecosystems.

Dr. Alfredo Prelat, TTI Exploration’s Chief Scientist, commented, “Our ultraviolet through thermal infrared remote-sensing capability enables us to measure the spectral fingerprint of the ecosystem. The combination of this technology and our analysis capabilities enables us to differentiate between areas impacted by the oil spill and areas not affected, including potential damage done to vegetation or water quality, which can impact oyster banks and a variety of other fragile ecosystems. We are pleased that our surveillance technology may be of use to governmental agencies, resource operators and their service companies, and individuals that are working tirelessly on the clean-up along the Gulf Coast.”

Jim Hollis, president and CEO of TTI Exploration, added, “The precision of our state-of-the-art technology will enable oil spill impact assessments not previously possible. The resolution of our NRM system and our ability to quickly transform the information into knowledge allows us to monitor very detailed changes to plants, soil, water and ecosystems that occur between successive flyover missions. The efficiency of remediation efforts should be greatly improved by knowing where the oil is, and is not, impacting the environment.”

TTI Exploration’s data acquisition is continuing along the coastal areas of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. To learn more about TTI Exploration NRM™ technology, visit: www.TTIExploration.com.
