Baltimore, Maryland, September 2011— After showing up three years running in Boston, Natural Products Expo East is returning home to the Baltimore Convention Center."The familiar convenience of the Inner Harbor, both from a cost and access to market perspective, will maximize the ability for retailers and manufacturers alike to be successful," said long-time Natural Products Expo East attendee Ralph Celebre of Basil Bandwagon. www.expoeast.com Natural Products Expo East will be held at the Convention Center in beautiful Baltimore Harbor September 21-24. Her bigger sister Natural Products Expo West, is held every spring in Anaheim, California. Next year that will happen March 9-12, 2012. These shows produced by New Hope Natural Media, unveiled its first Expo East in 1985, in Washington, DC. About 5,000 people attended that show, as opposed to upwards of 20,000 today. Attendees can network while they get a first-hand look at what’s happening in the industry – such as all things organic, health and beauty, natural and specialty foods, natural living, pet products, supplements and more. The editors of Healthy Newspaper have attended both shows on a regular basis since 2004, and can attest to their value. Exhibitors seem happy with the experience, too. In 2010, 94% of attendees surveyed found the show experience valuable, and 80% found new companies with which to do business. And the East Coast accounted for 40% of natural products sales in 2009. The show continues to grow more “green” as well. In 2010, its diversion rate was nearly 65%, up from 45% the previous year – with almost two-thirds of the items discarded at the show escaping the landfills by being donated, recycled, re-used or composted.
