Boulder, Colorado, April 2009 – Justin's Nut Butter, LLC said recently it has teamed up with Conscious Alliance (CA) to provide hunger relief and raise awareness of food shortages across the country and abroad.

The Boulder-based organic and natural peanut butter maker said its first stop would be the local Whole Foods Market, where it planned to conduct weekly demonstrations alongside the nonprofit, which will promote its charity.

CA provides youth awareness programs on acute hunger issues through its "Art that Feeds" program and other awareness initiatives.

Over the past six years, the group has collected and distributed over one million pounds of non-perishable food donations to local food pantries and impoverished communities and issued immediate relief to the victims of Hurricane Katrina and the Burma cyclone disaster.

For its part, Justin’s said for every sample it gives away to shoppers at store demonstrations, it will donate a pound of peanut butter to CA for distribution to those in need – up to $10,000 worth of product.

Taking the commitment even a step further, the entire Justin’s team is slated for a road trip with Conscious Alliance to the Pine Ridge Reservation, located in the southwest corridor of South Dakota, about 407 miles away from Boulder – and the poorest community in the United States.

At the reservation, a child currently goes hungry on average of once per week, the unemployment rate is presently 85 percent and the average annual family income is $3,700, according to Justin’s.

Company employees will personally hand out Justin’s Nut Butter and offer their services to the reservation in any way they can.
“We are hoping that we can take several trips like this a year,” the company said.

Justin’s produces gourmet nut butters in 16-ounce jars, 1.15-ounce squeeze packs and .6-ounce squeeze packs in six flavors: Classic Peanut, Honey Peanut, Cinnamon Peanut, Classic Almond, Honey Almond and Maple Almond.
