Everywhere, September 2011— October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and registered dietician Elizabeth Ward is providing lifestyle and diet tips to help women reduce the risk of this life-threatening disease. Here are some of her easy-to-follow tips:
Make calories count by choosing nutrient dense foods - whole grains, seafood and lean protein sources like chicken and fortified eggs.

Incorporate high quality, lean protein into your diet, to increase satiety in-between meals and help reduce overall calorie intake.

Stay physically active for at least 35 minutes a day. This will help with weight control, as well as help reduce risk of certain cancers, such as breast cancer.

Ward is also touting the health benefit of fortified eggs. Egg-land’s Best Eggs is teaming up with The Susan G. Komen Foundation and from September 15th to November 15th, will release egg cartons with a Komen for the Cure ribbon.  For each pink ribbon carton sold, Egg-land’s Best will make a donation of up to $50,000 to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
