May 13, 2010 — Purely by accident a handful of the articles that we wrote from releases that arrive daily this week had to do with natural healing, natural prevention and healthful consumption, which gave me the idea for this latest blog report.
One of the articles in question centers on the healing properties of essential oils, another deals with eradicating headaches the natural way and still another ‘introduces’ a highly nutritious and healthy ancient drink. These are at the basis of what I want to bring to you today. Most of us have been dodging the bullet in any way we can over most of the past decade. Some of us have done it well, while others have not been so nimble. While there’s no doubt that keeping our emotional and physical stability on an even keel is the thing to do — how best can it be done? I for one believe that one of the tenets entwined in the answer to this question is embedded in our basic thought structure. Were we stable, organized, pretty fearless people before you-know-what hit the fan? If so, we probably still are, and the approaches we’ve used to maintain this balance might work for others as well. However, those of us who have successfully kept the wolf outside the door should not automatically feel that what works for us will also do the trick for our family, friends and neighbors. When you begin taking it apart, some steps toward good mental maintenance should be evident: Exercise, focus and a positive attitude will help anyone. Too many pills, too much booze and too little introspection won’t. In a review of my own actions, plus that of others whom I’ve asked the question and who were okay with answering, I’ve found that talking to yourself from time to time is a good maneuver. Do it privately lest those around you might get the wrong idea — but it’s okay to be your own cheerleader. Moderation is another good ploy. If you’re an otherwise healthy person, there’s nothing wrong with a drink or two before or with dinner. Just don’t overdo it. Getting enough sleep is critically important, but don’t stay in bed to hide; that’s never good. If you feel that a few pills here and there will help you, take only the OTC variety, and pop one instead of two, and/or always less per 24 hours than is recommended. But I am also drawn to the natural remedies, such as massage, acupuncture, natural essential oils (as discussed in one of the articles mentioned) using natural remedies to get rid of nasty setbacks like headaches (something we all suffer from) and even trying new (or old, depending on how you look at it) foods and beverages that pay you back with healthy doses of stuff, like Chicha Morada (see “Ancient Nutritious Drink Gains in Popularity”.) All these steps constitute discovery, which in itself is an upper. Being curious about what is going on around you is another way to help cure your ills. While we can’t control everything, and there continues to be unrest and horror in the world, there are many things we can do that might make it all better — and if it helps no one else but you, so what? You’re very special, not only to yourself, but I would imagine to many others as well. So get to it.
